Gain valuable insights and practical advice on:

• diagnoses and clinical jargon related to trauma
• the physiological and behavioural impact of traumatic events
• how clinicians interpret symptoms and what therapy options are available
• key questions to ask your mental health professional and how to feel empowered in your treatment journey
• finding a therapist and the right therapeutic approach for you
• balancing active therapy and other approaches
• the role and purpose of medication, with an emphasis on therapy as the primary treatment for trauma
• how carers can effectively support a loved one dealing with trauma.

Includes a 20-minute Q&A session.

Dr. Rahul Khanna is a practicing psychiatrist, researcher and educator who co-leads Transforming Trauma Victoria alongside Lived Experience Co-Director, Charles Chu. This Statewide Trauma Service is being established as part of the Victoria’s mental health reforms by Phoenix Australia in partnership with SANE and others. Across multiple contexts from hospitals and universities to start-ups, Dr Khanna works to translate the science to usable insights for trauma survivors and those that care for them. He looks forward to continuing that work through the SANE community forums.
